    I’d like to know how the Brits decided to spell this with a c. The etymology clearly shows it should be spelled with an s

    > late Middle English: from Old French offens ‘misdeed’, from Latin offensus ‘annoyance’, reinforced by French offense, from Latin offensa ‘a striking against, a hurt, or displeasure’; based on Latin offendere ‘strike against’.

    Other than that, this comic made me laugh!

      Funny! I speak and write Australian English, but we spell it the same as the British. 🤷‍♀️
