The writing process

I write myself around and into the piece. I hate what I’m writing until the very end.

A comic about writing.
A doodle that compares how I think other people write (in a linear fashion from top to bottom), and how I write (a big spiral and lots of arrows and squiggles). The note in the image says “I write myself around and into the piece. I hate what I’m writing until the very end.”

Recently, I’ve been thinking about the writing process and how I’m sure that other people have it easier than me. Although I love writing, and I find the process important and satisfying, the actual doing can be really stressful. I’m constantly battling with procrastination, imposter syndrome, and the overall overwhelm of getting my ideas down onto the page.

Surely it can’t be like this for everyone?

It’s like that for me too. I don’t like the doing, but I like the editing, and I like the having done.
