The persimmon disappointment

A quick diary comic I made for an hour-long comics-making session with K. Woodman-Maynard. The prompt was “fruit.”

A four-panel comic titled “The Persimmon Disappointment.” The first panel has a young girl eating a persimmon, with the caption “I haven’t had a persimmon since I was a child. So soft and sweet! The second panel has an older person, looking closely at a plate of persimmons. The caption says “Recently, Mum gave me some. I waited for them to ripen. They were rock hard for weeks. The third panel shows cutting the persimmon, and there’s a thought bubble in which the person cutting is remembering the young girl from the first panel. The caption says “Finally soft, I cut one open, saliva springing from my tongue. I pop a taste in my mouth.” The fourth panel shows a close-up of the older person’s face. She looks unimpressed. Next to her head, the thought bubble has disappeared with a “poof!” The caption says: “It tastes of bitter disappointment.”

Thanks to K. Woodman-Maynard for running a fun session!
